The Release One

The release presentation of our Iteration one and two work, was scheduled swiftly, along with the commencement of the second Semester. Since we were advised to continue our work on the project during the study break as well, we were prepared with our finished and tested work to face the first Release. There we were able to get our hands on experience of the nature of a Release and the quality that was expected from us, as developers. Our supervisor was content with what we presented to her and upon our lecturer's suggestion, we showed our product to a friend who would see the flow and would notify us with improvements that could be made. The web page was quite up to our expectation and we were happy about our efforts.

Iteration 02 started

Iteration presentations are due on 11th.
We had a pretty rough time with examinations and they ended on 2nd.

The work started afterwards.

by today, Friday 8th May, I was done with the Orders page and its improvements.
           * As a buyer I want to confirm the status of an order as received when item is delivered so I can let the seller know the item was accepted.

And the parts of Admin page and its activities.
           * As an admin I want to see a list of items available in the site so that I can view their details
           * As an admin I want to see a list of users (buyers and sellers) so I can remove the users with more bad feedbacks

Also, the update form was done halfway through.
           * As a member I want to update my user details as well as update my password.

CodeIgniter Framework is one of the most popular framework nowadays that is used by many developers around the world. We were adviced to follow a framework for the development process in our project. We have selected the CodeIgniter Framework. To study the framework, we have taken several tutorials out of YouTube, as well as some downloaded video material.

Project Proposal Presentation on 23rd February

The Proposal

Our Project Proposal was due to be presented on 23rd February at 3.30pm at 601.
We prepared the proposal document earlier with the idea we had in mind, and then presented to our supervisor Miss Nethmini, and received her advice. With her suggestions, we were able to create a better and a complete proposal document and a presentation, which was presented at the scheduled time, to the panel assigned for us.

Learning PHP

 The Language

The language requirement for the project is PHP. Since we have no experience with the language we were in need of learining the language and familiarizing ourselves with it. To do that we referred certain material, such as video tutorials, books, et cetra. We shared our material with each other, among the team as well as outside the team, because sharing the knowledge strengthens the ability of everyone.
I came accross with a set of video tutorials from Lynda.com with the help of a batch mate. I shared them with my other friends as well.

The initiative..

The Project

As 3rd year students at Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology, following the Curtin University Degree in Software Engineering, it is our duty and responsibility to perform with essential dedication and commitment to our work, demonstrating the professional skills that are expected from students in our level.

The Software Engineering Project is the subject that we are being graded for our performance during the desgning, and creation of a certain project that should be implemented according to the requirements gathered from our client.

The Project we were assigned with, is the E marketing Portal, which was a project by Miss Abarnah Kirupananda. A lecturer at SLIIT Metro Campus.

The solution is to be implemented to provide a platform that delivers an e commerce solution for consumer-to-consumer and business-to-consumer transactions. Thereby enabling the onlnine shopping experience more convenient and a reliable one.
